1Who we are

Understory Bundles & BOGO is a Shopify app made by Understory. It lets merchants run bundle, buy one get one, buy X get Y, free gift, volume, spend and free shipping offers. This page explains what the app touches, why, and where it goes.

2What the app reads and saves in your store

  • Discounts. Each offer you create is a Shopify discount (automatic or with a code). The offer's rules are saved in a metafield on that discount. The app reads your discounts only to list the offers it created.
  • Products and collections. The app reads titles, images and prices so you can pick what an offer applies to.
  • Store settings. Your progress bar colours, messages and the goals it shows are saved in one metafield on your store, so your theme can read them.
  • Plan. The app reads which plan your store is on to apply the offer limit.

3At checkout

Discounts are worked out by a Shopify Function that runs inside Shopify. It looks at the products, quantities and prices in the cart. If an offer is limited to customer tags, Shopify tells the function only whether the signed in customer has one of those tags, never who the customer is. Nothing from the cart leaves Shopify.

4On your storefront

If you switch on the storefront booster in your theme, a small script shows the progress bar and adds free gifts to the cart. It reads the cart from your own store and keeps two short notes in the shopper's browser session (which gifts it added and which ones the shopper removed), so it does not add a removed gift again. These notes stay in the browser, are deleted when the tab closes, and are never sent to us. The script sets no cookies.

5Billing

Plans are billed by Shopify. We never see card or payment details.

6Service providers

Cloudflare hosts the app's admin pages and this page, and receives the privacy requests Shopify sends to every app. We log that a request arrived and keep nothing else. Shopify stores all app data. Support email runs on Gmail.

7Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app stops every offer. Shopify then removes the app's data from your store. Because we keep no copy, there is nothing left on our side. If a shopper asks you for their data, the app has none to give or delete.
